At Newtown School we encourage students to achieve high standards across a wide range of curricular and extracurricular activities. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum.
Teaching and Learning
Class groupings are organised on a mixed ability basis except where syllabi require separate classes for ordinary and higher level courses. Our primary focus is given to smaller class sizes, where possible, to encourage students to engage with their chosen subjects. Experience shows that this kind of learning environment allows students with ability to achieve outstanding results while others receive examination grades which exceed their expectations.
Curriculum
Newtown School offers a coherent six-year programme of secondary education leading to the Leaving Certificate Examination. The Curriculum is founded on the principles of breadth and balance.

Students’ confidence grew yearly and from second-year onwards it was particularly noticeable, indicating a growth in confidence the longer students are in the school.
